2010 Torch Award for Marketplace Excellence

The Better Business Bureau (BBB) of North Central Texas has singled out Hospice of Wichita Falls as the recipient of the prestigious Torch Award for Marketplace Excellence in the non-profit category. The BBB said, "those selected as winners demonstrated their superior commitment to exceptional standards that benefit their customers, suppliers, employees, and surrounding community."

Hospice of Wichita Falls was established in 1985. The current CEO for Hospice is Alisa Echols, LMSW. Hospice began with a mission to serve all who are terminally ill regardless of whether they have the ability to pay or not.

The organization was started with one employee and one patient. 24 years later, Hospice has over 240 volunteers and almost 160 staff. Over the last 24 years Hospice has served 9,500 patients and more than 25,000 family members. The main goal for Hospice is for each patient to be comfortable, put their affairs in order, and say “I love you” to each significant person in their lives, so they may die with dignity and peace.

The Torch Award for Marketplace Excellence recognizes business and organizations for their commitment in maintaining a culture, which consistently sets high standards of behavior in the marketplace. It illuminates the importance of corporate conscience and responsibility in fulfilling a company's obligation to the marketplace to do what is right and fair. And it demonstrates the importance to the community that adhering to Better Business Bureau standards for trust is the hallmark of successful, competitive companies.
