Hospice of the Heart partnering with Providence Hospice
From the Lakelander: Hospice of the Heart and Providence Hospice have reached a mutual partnership agreement. Effective Jan. 31, Hospice of the Heart merged with Providence Hospice. The changes in the healthcare industry, hospice regulations, and Medicare over the last several years have precipitated this joint partnership.Hospice of the Heart has been well known in Whitney since 1992. Bob Rattan, founder of Hospice of the Heart, saw the need for a local non-profit, Medicare/Medicaid approved program to provide quality of life to terminally ill patients.
Providence Hospice is also a nonprofit hospice provider with offices located in Waco and Mexia. It was established in 1995 and serves 17 counties. Providence Hospice is a part of Community Hospice of Texas, which collectively, is the largest non-profit hospice provider in the state of Texas. Their mission is to provide compassionate end-of-life care and services to all the communities served.
